Connecting to School with Remote Desktop
All,
We have a new remote access system to get onto the school network externally.
OPTION 1
Save the attached file somewhere accessible (like your desktop).
When you want to access the school double click it.
Enter your username and password.
You must remember hlc\ before your username or it won’t work.
Also once you log on please remember to select a location rather than just close the pop up. Just select 'Staff Room' or you won't get the shared drives mapped.
OPTION 2
If you go to any web browser (Internet Explorer prompts for less passwords) and type
You will then get a log on screen. Enter your school username and password.
Next launch the program
Depending on your browser you will get a file you need to
open or it will just pop up.
If you get the prompt below check the box and you shouldn’t get this again.
If you get a second prompt you must put the domain hlc\
Mac Users or iPhone/iPad
If you have a Macbook/iPhone/iPad you will also have to download 'Microsoft Remote Desktop' from the App Store.

You need to add a Gateway to connect with a Mac/iPhone/iPad
Gateway: ts.hlc.org.uk
Only getting N: Drive
If you only get your home folder (N:) when you log onto remote desktop then you need to check your location and/or re-map your folders. The reason you may have this is if you close the location chooser without setting a location.
On the Remote Desktop please click on the little person (My Connect) in the bottom right.
Then check your location. If this is blank please click on 'Change Location'.
Please set to your area. If your area is not listed then please choose the appropriate Staff Room.
You drives should now be mapped. It may take a second. If it is not blank then please click on 'Tasks' and then 'Re-map Drives and Printer'.
This should now re-map your drives.
Also just a reminder but you can get to all of these sites externally (without having to remote into school)
